UODAVR (Upright Organization for Development and Vulnerable Rehabilitation) is a nonprofit organization recognizes that peacebuilding is essential for creating sustainable development and improving the lives of vulnerable populations. By promoting social cohesion and understanding among diverse communities, UODAVR aims to foster an environment where individuals can thrive without fear of conflict or instability. UODAVR also focuses on supporting the development and rehabilitation of vulnerable populations in humanitarian and development contexts. The initiative began in 2017 with a grassroots effort known as the Women Friendship Group in the Al buoga area of Umbada locality, Omdurman. This group emerged as a response to the urgent need for women’s empowerment and advocacy in the community, laying the groundwork for broader initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of marginalized populations. Since its inception, UODAVR has engaged in various programs designed to address critical issues faced by women, children, and displaced persons. The organization has implemented Social Behavior Change Communication Strategies (SBCCS) and educational programs that raise awareness about women’s rights and child protection. In addition, UODAVR has established outreach mobile clinics to provide essential health services and conducted community-based nutrition assessments using Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) screening and UODAVR in 2019 support COVID 19 vaccination awareness via El Ineem organization in Naivasha Camp in Omdurman, Wed El bushier resettlement site and alfetehab neighborhood (Mutheluth and Emtidat residents) and they open Um Al hanouna center (Annex) for drop out children under supervision of Al bouga Adult education administration unite in Umbada locality. These efforts have been supported by partnerships with local and international organizations, including Kolana Kiem Organization, Dal company, NRC, IRC, MSF and DRC, and have received funding from major entities such as the UNHCR, IOM, and UNICEF. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, UODAVR expanded its initiatives to include vaccination awareness campaigns in partnership with El Ineem Organization, targeting communities in the Naivasha Camp and the resettlement area of Wed El Bashier. Recognizing the vital need for education, the organization registered Abanose English School (Annex) in Al feteihab block 21 in 2021, aiming to provide formal education for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugee children from regions such as Blue Nile and Darfur and south Sudanese refugees in resettlement areas. UODAVR operates not only in Sudan but has also expanded its reach to South Sudan, with operational offices initially established in Juba, enabling the organization to serve a broader demographic of vulnerable communities.
